Will Recreational Cannabis Be Coming To Minnesota

Will Recreational Cannabis Be Coming To Minnesota

LOS ANGELES CA, September 23 ( Dr Cyberspace ) — by Robert Bishop — Will recreational cannabis be coming to Minnesota?

It depends on who you talk to.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has been ordering state departments to prepare for the eventual legalization of Recreational Cannabis.

Gov. Walz campaigned on legalizing recreational cannabis and he’s relying on his supporters to push for legalized marijuana.

On “Sunday Morning Live!” at the State Fair Walz said: “We had folks in from Colorado and Oregon to tell us what worked what didn’t. Should we be ready to do it, we will do it the right way –from a revenue perspective, from a health perspective, from a Department of Public Safety Perspective.”

Gov. Walz told Minnesota Public Radio News that “My agencies have been tasked to put all of the building blocks in place, from Revenue to the Department of Public Safety to the Department of Health.

We will have everything ready to go, and we will be able to implement it in Minnesota the minute the Legislature moves this.”

House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler, appears ready to move forward on legalizing marijuana.

“We believe that Minnesota can have the best marijuana laws in the country,” says Winkler.

The House Majority Leader has been handing out blue cowbells inscribed with “Be Heard on Cannabis.” to make his point.

“We think it’s vitally important that Minnesotans weigh in directly on this policy change,” said Winkler.

“As more and more states legalize adult use of cannabis, Minnesota can’t stand on the sidelines and hope it doesn’t happen here,” Winkler said. “That is not a responsible way to address this issue.”

The Minnesota Campaign for Full Legalization led by Marcus Harcus, was “very encouraged” by the Democratic leadership’s position.

Marcus gave testimony earlier this year at the State Capitol, in favor of legalization. Harcus said recently,

“We want to see a bill passed in the House, but the big challenge is going to be the Senate.”

And There Is The Catch

Minnesota Democrats may control the governor’s office and the House, but Republicans control the Senate.

The GOP-controlled Senate already killed a bill earlier this year that would have legalized recreational cannabis.

Democratic Sen. Melissa Franzen who sponsored that bill says any bill legalizing marijuana won’t pass until Democrats control the Senate.

And as fate would have it, every seat in the Minnesota House and Senate is up for grabs in 2020. So, if voters want Legal Recreational Cannabis, they will have it.

Here is something we can both  agree on. If recreational cannabis is approved in Minnesota it could help both farmers and cities.
